2021 Artists

Meg Smith
Meg is a passionate outdoor explorer and athlete with professional training in design. Her work combines an eye for style with a tangible feeling of being in wild places. She strives to convert the inspiration received from deep snow, flowing water and the natural world surrounding her into every piece. She loves the challenge of blending the conceptual with the realistic. Meg is based in Alaska’s Chugach Mountains and when she’s not creating, you can find her journeying through the mountains, exploring the ocean or flying around the sky.

Paxson Woelber
Paxson Woelber is a multimedia professional who loves mapmaking because it represents the intersection of two of his favorite things: wilderness travel and fine art. His mapping projects include the Bomber Traverse Map and a map of Adak Island. He lives with his dog Taiga in Anchorage, where he runs Ermine Skate and winterbear.com.

Sarah Glaser
Sarah K. Glaser grew up in a log cabin near Kenai Lake in Moose Pass, Alaska, and is currently transplanted to (and in love with) Anchorage. She works in illustration, where she’s delighted to make quirky ideas come to life, whether it’s the Mountain Man of Alaska calendar, a 400-page tome about packrafting safety, or illustrated maps. She’ll use any excuse to create art, especially when it’s with an amazing community. Her approach isn’t very glamorous, but she prefers it that way.

Ben Sullender
Ben is an Anchorage-based spatial ecologist who loves maps, mountains, and finding ways to combine the two. Over the last six years, he’s worked with various conservation non-profits in Alaska while splitboarding, packrafting, biking, and climbing as much as possible. His next adventure (a graduate program in snow ecology) will take his love of digging snow pits to a whole new level.
