The Outdoor Adventure Show 2017
“We love this place and adventuring in it so much that we’ve got to share it, whether through writing, illustration, baking, music, photography, or video. And we’d love to share it with you all this upcoming December 1st Friday.
The Outdoor Adventure Show is an Alaska-based showcase for art inspired by exploring and playing in our great outdoors. It’s created by and for those who run, raft, bike, climb, paddle, hike skin, ski, board, surf, hike and a million other wonderful ways to explore our gorgeous backyard.”

2017 Artists
The Outdoor Adventure Show features one Alaska artist in each creative discipline.

Kelsey Gray
Author
Kelsey Gray is an Alaskan born author of several books, including: Found Wandering: Poems for the Lost and three editions of The Alaska Rock Climbing Guide. He currently spends his time teaching and running several businesses. When not working on his next project, Kelsey can be found traveling the world to find a place he’s never been.

Sarah Glaser
Illustrator
Sarah proudly hails from the great community of Moose Pass. She loves any excuse to collaborate with amazing people around Alaska—including work for Mountain Men of Alaska, Alaska Public Media and the Moose Pass Summer Solstice Festival. While writing this, Sarah is wrapping up her final job of three years as a traveling rope access welder/illustrator and preparing to jump into full-time marketing and design at Food Bank of Alaska. She’s thrilled to spend more time in Alaska and eager to dive into a new position.

Tonja Woelber
Poet
Tonja has lived in Anchorage for 35 years and enjoys the mountains in all weathers. Her hiking and mountaineering adventures include the Grand Canyon, Mont Blanc, the Alps and the Dolomites. She is a member of the collaborative group Ten Poets, performs regularly with Poetry Parley, and has been published in Cirque, a literary journal for the North Pacific Rim.

Cale Green
Videographer
Other words have described this otherwise wise man who willfully wonders wrecklessly to see splendid sights from afar and above. Cale is a videographer who has specialized in outdoor drone cinematography and likes sharing his visions with the world and crafting compelling narratives.

Paxson Woelber
Photographer
Paxson grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, where he now works as a designer and photographer. His photography has been printed by National Geographic, the US National Parks Service, and Backpacker Magazine. He has worked with the American Alpine Club, the Sierra Club of Alaska, and the Alaska Wilderness League to create photos of remote places in Alaska. Interests include mapmaking, filmmaking, and writing, and he works as a volunteer graphic designer for the Mountaineering Club of Alaska.

Heather Kelly
Adventure Chef
Heather Kelly was born and raised in Bird Creek, Alaska, where she still calls home today. After countless river miles, Heather wanted to combine her love of nutrition with her backcountry adventures, and Heather’s Choice® Meals for Adventuring was born. She transforms her favorite homemade recipes into lightweight, dehydrated meals and snacks that you can take with you anywhere in the world. Try her just add water dinners, breakfasts and snacks on your next adventure!

Jamie Whiteman & The Tanana Rafters
Band
Based out of Anchorage, Alaska, this award winning bluesy folk-rock band has really gained ground since their formation in November of 2013. Carrying their roots in bluegrass, country, blues, and folk with them, they’ve traveled all over the last frontier playing shows in cafes and bars, and on outside stages. After opening for Kacey Musgraves at the Alaska State Fair, they announced their first tour with their debut album, “All My Fault.”

Elizabeth Ellis
Painter
Elizabeth Ellis was born and raised in Alaska. Now living in Girdwood, she has been showing her art in and around Anchorage since 2007. She graduated from University of Alaska Anchorage in 2011 with a Bachelors degree in Art. Elizabeth is a mother by day and artist by night. Over the years she became apart of the artist community. She invests her energy, her time and her spirit into not only her own artwork but also into supporting other local artists. From creating murals for non-profit organizations to traveling into the furthest reaches of rural Alaska to teach art to children. Her art and her life are inspired by adventures around the ocean and through mountains. Elizabeth is an independent spirit, a need to create her own style of work rather that suit the conventional marketplace.
